Welcome to my blog guys!
I don't know if I'll manage to do it on a regular basis, but I'll try to write articles both in French and English. Don't expect translations coz' you know, the writer of this blog refuses to pay me... After all, I'm leaving the world of translators for -at least- the next two years.
That being said, let's come to my point. As you already know if you read this blog, I'm off to Saudi Arabia for at least one year, but most likely two years if everything goes fine. Passenger François, aka Paco, Franchew or Il Padrino will take off on Monday 26 October at 10.30am. Yep, in exactly two days I'll be in a big plane crying like a child who doesn't want to leave his mom and go to school haha.
On this page, guess what, I'll tell you all about my life in Saudi Arabia, I'll upload some pictures and you will be able to leave comments. Please avoid the type of comments starting like "Hey Paco, you know what? Last night was ace, we went to your favourite pub and got hammeredddd!!! And then we had a burger with crispy bacon". Oulalah (like foreign people think the French say at the start or at the end of every sentence) life without alcohol and pork is going to be some kind of experience!
On the positive side I will hardly see a single drop of rain, which is going to be weird after living one year in Liverpool and one year and a half in Brussels. I will taste camel milk and camel kebab among other things. Another good thing is that I'll be in Al-Khobar (a bridge away from Bahrein), which is renowned for its restaurants, the finest ones in the Arabian peninsula.
What am I going to do in Saudi Arabia you might wonder... I'm going to be "Head of courses and teacher of French as a foreign language" in a French-Saudi language centre. Sounds like fun eh! I'll tell you more on this when I start.
Ok, two days to go, wow! First stop, I'm going to Riyadh for some training and then I will start working in Al-Khobar, Al-Khubar (well in Arabic it reads الخبر). When I get internet and time, I'll give you some news about my first days (or weeks) in Arabia!
